Frequently Asked Questions
What is SAHAS?
SAHAS stands for South Asian Health Advocates. We are a student-led organization dedicated to exploring and addressing health issues impacting South Asian communities, both locally and globally. Through research, outreach, events, and collaboration, we aim to promote culturally informed healthcare and advocate for equity in health access and outcomes

What kind of events does SAHAS host?
We host a variety of events throughout the year, including speaker panels (like South Asian Voices in Medicine), workshops, cultural-health awareness campaigns, and conference attendances. Our events are designed to educate, inspire, and build a supportive community around South Asian health issues.

Does SAHAS participate in research?
Yes! Our club is actively involved in research. We’re currently working on a scoping review to understand hypertension prevention and treatment methods at primary healthcare centers in South Asia. Research is a key pillar of our mission, and members have opportunities to contribute, learn, and even lead projects.

How can I get involved?
Getting involved is easy! Follow us on social media for updates or email us to join any of our current projects. Whether you're interested in advocacy, event planning, research, or just learning more, there’s a place for you in SAHAS.
